How this FAQ is researched

This page separates confirmed retail information from observations made by players. Release details, platform support, and the basic game loop are checked against the official Steam listing. Card names and visible statistics are recorded only when they can be read in public footage or another cited source. Random drops, exact probabilities, and version-sensitive behavior are described cautiously because a single play session cannot prove a universal rule. When the game changes, the dated guides and source notes take priority over an older summary.

Cards, duplicates, and collection progress

KOTAMON is built around repeated searches rather than a fixed one-card-per-location checklist. Garbage, unopened cereal boxes, and card fragments are general card sources, so duplicate pulls are part of the collection loop. A run that produces cards you already own does not necessarily mean the save is broken or that the remaining cards are unavailable. Use the collection tracker to mark documented finds locally, compare the missing entries by color set, and keep uncertain statistics separate from values that are clearly visible. The tracker does not upload a save or alter the game; it is only a private browser checklist and can be cleared by removing local site data.

We do not publish invented card-specific drop locations. If a source establishes a fixed spawn, quest reward, or version-specific requirement, that evidence can be added to the relevant guide. Until then, a general acquisition method is labeled as general rather than being presented as a guaranteed route for an individual card.

Troubleshooting saves and upgrades

If progress looks inconsistent after loading a save, first distinguish permanent collection data from purchased upgrades and temporary run state. Take a screenshot of the relevant menu, note the game version and the last action before saving, then restart once without overwriting the affected slot. Steam Cloud can preserve a save, but it cannot confirm that every field was written correctly. For a reproducible problem, report the exact sequence in the official Steam discussion board or to the developer. This fan guide cannot restore or edit save files, and it will not recommend deleting a save unless an official support instruction explicitly calls for it.

Audio comfort and audience notes

Players who are sensitive to repeated eating, drinking, or environmental sounds should review the in-game audio controls before a long session. If one sound lacks an individual toggle, lowering the appropriate effects channel is a temporary workaround rather than a confirmed accessibility fix. KOTAMON has a relaxed collection loop, but “cozy” does not automatically mean that every visual or sound is suitable for every age or sensitivity. Parents should use the official store page, regional age information, and current game media when making that decision; this site is written for a general gaming audience and does not collect profiles from children.
